The Color Wheel

Overview

For our first assignment in graphic design, we had to create a color wheel. We used Adobe Illustrator to make the project. The color wheel is to show the 3 primary colors, the 3 secondary colors, and the combinations of primary and secondary colors, which are called tertiary colors. The 3 primary colors are yellow, red, and blue. The 3 secondary colors are green, orange, and violet. The tertiary colors are named based on the 2 colors that were combined to create it. Every tertiary color starts with the name of the primary color then ends in the name of the secondary color. An example would be red-orange. It can't be called orange-red because the primary color comes first.

What I learned

I learned how to use Adobe Illustrator. I learned that the undo button is very important in graphic design. When designing something in Illustrator, you're going to make mistakes. If you undo your mistake and try to fix it, you'll improve as a graphic designer. This first project was very simple, but it gave me a basic understanding of what graphic design will be all about, and I look forward to learning more about Adobe Illustrator.

What I Did

I started off by creating a circle that I was going to put all of the other shapes onto. Next, I placed 2 triangles that were going to connect to my primary colors and my secondary colors. After adding the primary and secondary colors onto the triangle, I added the tertiary colors in between the primary/secondary colors. Lastly, I labeled the colors and added a title onto the top.
